This tutorial will guide you through soldering, learning, and programming the Electronic Compass shield kit. The final product will show you which way is North by lighting up the appropriate LED as well as outputting a heading in degrees through serial communication. Additionally, you will learn to program a calibration function to make your compass more accurate. If you run into problems at any point during this project, please see our Troubleshooting page for help. When you finish your compass, feel free to hack it! Take a look at the code and hardware and see what more you can do with it. Our Further Reading page might give you some ideas of where to get started with your modifications.
